Ondrej Saray has studied an orchestral conducting at the conservatory Bratislava in Bratislava with Zdenek Bílek and with Ladislav Slovak at the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava.

In the years 1983 – 2007, he was a conductor of Bratislava Children Choir. In 1987 he founded Echo Youth Choir and in 1992 Amadeus Choir Bratislava. These choirs under his conduction won many significant national and international awards.

He introduced himself as a conductor in twelve European countries as well as in Canada, Africa and the USA. He cooperated with prestigious Slovak orchestras (the Slovak Philharmonic Orchestra, the State Philharmonic orchestra of  Košice, the State Chamber Orchestra of Zilina).

With his choirs he cooperated on the vocal-instrumental works with the  Slovak Philharmony, the Slovak Chamber Orchestra of Bohdan Warchal, the Capella Istropolitana, the Musica Aeterna, the Ladies Chamber Orchestra, with Orchestre  de Chambre de Toulouse and with Bratislava Symphony Orchestra. He also realised recordings for the Slovak Radio, the Slovak Television and the BBC Radio London.

Ondrej Saray conducts also Bratislava Symphony Choir with whom he, as a choirmaster prepared a lot of recordings for well known foreign film and recordings studios.  

In 2015 he worked as a lecturer in international conductor courses of church artists in Serbian town Pivnica.  He is a member of international juries in Slovakia and abroad at choirs and orchestra competitions.

From  1993 he gives lectures  at  Music and Dance Faculty of the Academy of Performing Arts (MDF of APA), where he has also finished his   PhD study and was habilitated in 2005 as  docent.  Besides conducting he also teaches music lessons of choir conducting at the Evangelical Faculty of Theology at the Comenius University in Bratislava.

In 2008 he has became a conductor of the Nitria choir.
